OUR STORY

Like many small businesses, our story begins with a leap of faith. A referral from a former colleague led to the formation of Evans Accounting Group and its first big client. Since then, we’ve grown to become a boutique accounting firm with a diverse roster of clients. So far, our clients have been entirely referral-based, and we believe that that’s because when we work with someone, we treat their finances like they’re our own. We strive for excellence and customer success above all things, and we’re not afraid of hard work — in fact, we excel at it. We operate by forming close partnerships and offering personalized care and attention to everyone we work with. Our story is closely entwined with the stories of our clients, and we firmly believe that their success is our success.

LEADERSHIP

Meet Dana Evans

Dana’s story is one of adaptability and evolution. Attending Wake Forest University on a full tennis scholarship, she was an integral part of Wake Forest University’s tennis team, making it to the NCAA All American tennis tournament, and an honored member of ACC Top 50 Athletes Anniversary team. After graduating with a degree in Anthropology, she settled in the Metro DC area and accepted a position as an Administrative Assistant and Coach at the newly formed Junior Tennis Champions Center and the Tennis Center at College Park. She seized this incredible opportunity, learning and growing professionally as she worked her way up the ladder to General Manager. Yet, after ten years in the tennis business, Dana realized two things — first, that she wanted to try a career outside of the tennis world and second, that she had a head for numbers.

These realizations led her to make a complete career change and start a position at a CPA firm where she could continue to learn and expand her accounting knowledge. From there, Dana returned to school to complete her master’s in accounting and sit for the CPA exam all while holding various Controller and CFO roles across different industries. Shortly after achieving her CPA certification, she received a referral from a former colleague, and from there she started her own CPA firm.

When she’s not working, Dana is running, reading and spending time with her pup, a young black lab named Deacon (named after Wake Forest’s Demon Deacon, of course).
